Founded in 1847, Taunton School is one of the South West’s leading co-educational independent day and boarding schools for children aged 0–18 years. Our co-curricular provision was noted as a ‘significant strength’ in our recent ISI inspection, and with more than 150 clubs, societies and teams available. Our full co-curricular programme. To prepare students to thrive in a modern world, Taunton School offers an exceptional, diverse range of co-curricular activities accessed from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form, which wrap around the core curriculum, where pupils can try different things within an exceptional range of facilities, driven by dedicated and dynamic staff who provide experiences that may ignite something, a spark, that decides an area they want to pursue when they are older. Taunton School have developed, through the taxonomy of the World Economic Forum, 150+ activities, separate to our sports offer, that cover six core areas of Music, Drama, Sport, Outdoor Education, CCF, and Public Speaking & Debating. These are protected through the school week to ensure every student can develop a bespoke pathway, developing confidence, wellbeing, resilience and enjoyment.
Taunton School is constantly investing in its campus; over the last three years it has created a brand new Sixth Form centre, a new library, new sports pitches including state of the art floodlit double AstroTurfs, a 'Green Heart' where students from over 60 nationalities can enjoy their breaks, a modern dining hall and are currently revamping the music block and developing two new boarding houses which are due to open in September 2027.
