What data we collect

We collect the data you provide when you register and apply, including name, date of birth, contact details, nationality and country of residence, academic history and results, personal statements, and parent or guardian details. Where relevant to a placement and where you choose to provide it, we may collect learning-needs or health information. We also collect limited technical data when you use the site.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use your data to create and manage your account, to process and manage applications, to match students to suitable schools and universities, to communicate with you, and to handle fees. Our legal basis is the performance of our engagement with you; consent where we ask for it, including for any marketing; and, for special-category data such as health or learning needs, your explicit consent. We keep financial records where the law requires it.

Children's data

Our service is used by students who may be children. Where a student is below the digital-consent age in their country, we obtain and verify the consent of a parent or guardian before processing the student's data. Parents can review, manage, and withdraw that consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We share data with our technology provider, Scopic Inc., which builds and maintains the platform for us, and with the sub-processors listed at . We share application data with schools and universities only as needed to pursue your chosen applications and with your knowledge.

International transfers

Your data may be processed outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where it is, we protect it using Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, an approved certification, together with additional safeguards. You can request a copy of the safeguards at wise@mcmillaneducation.com.

How long we keep it

We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above and then delete or anonymise it, in line with our retention schedule. Financial records are kept for the period the law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data; to correct it; to have it erased; to restrict or object to its processing; to receive it in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time. Where we use any automated decision-making with significant effect, you can ask for human review and contest the decision. To exercise a right, contact wise@mcmillaneducation.com. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
