Description

Baylor was established in 1893 and has become one of the country’s premier coeducational college-preparatory schools. We provide as much variety in our activities and extracurricular offerings as we do within our robust academic program, that offers students an outstanding college preparatory curriculum and selection of advanced studies. Baylor students are encouraged to follow their passions and achieve their true potential. Few schools can match Baylor’s boarding life. Our beautiful 690-acre campus is located on the Tennessee River just five minutes from Chattanooga’s vibrant downtown, and an easy two-hour drive from Atlanta, Nashville, and Birmingham. The beauty of an expansive riverfront campus, first class academic and residential life facilities, and a network of passionate faculty members create a deeply connected, vibrant school community.

Baylor wants students who are well-rounded. We look for academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, extracurricular involvement, and social maturity. We also hope to attract boarding students who will become actively engaged in the life and culture of the school while they are here.

Baylor students participate robustly in Advanced Placement classes, which is a testament to their desire to be challenged and our teachers’ commitment to inspiring students. Baylor offers 29 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. In 2024, Baylor students sat for 850 AP exams; students earned a a score of 3 or higher on 84% of those exams.
