The Frederick Gunn School, a co-ed boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 as well as a post-graduate year, was founded in 1850 by Frederick Gunn. Mr. Gunn took a principled stand against slavery and spurred students (and the town at large) to examine their beliefs. He also had a deep appreciation for the natural world, believing that in nature students understand themselves as humans and their place in the world.

Tabor Academy is an ambitious and supportive boarding school community where students in grades 9-12 take risks, challenge themselves, and prepare to lead at our school by the sea. Everything about Tabor is captured within three categories: aspirations, adventures, and anchors. Tabor’s students are highly aspirational. Students plan their academic and co-curricular trajectory to set intentions for a fulfilling experience. Tabor’s environment infuses the curriculum with adventure. From orientation aboard our 92 foot schooner to our global travel opportunities, there is an appropriate adventure for every interest.
