Townshend International School

Townshend International School is a co-educational, independent British residential and day school, nestled on a hilltop in the beautiful Czech Republic, surrounded by lakes, forests, mountains and castles. The Czech Republic is consistently rated as one of the safest and most peaceful countries in the world, providing a superb environment for learning. With 140 students from Pre-Kindergarten through to Grade 13 graduation, Townshend is small and close-knit. Everybody knows everybody, older students gladly befriend their younger peers, and students receive plenty of personalized, one-on-one attention from teachers. Upward of 30 nationalities are represented at any time, creating stimulating classroom environments, and giving students the opportunity to embrace and navigate cultural diversity — and to form close, international friendships — long before entering university. Townshend's philosophy rests on three pillars: academic excellence, good character, and purpose. We support students in their journey toward excellence in the arts, sciences, humanities, and languages. But equally, we nurture the development of virtues like truthfulness, kindness, and trustworthiness, and believe that expressing these virtues makes us happier, more resilient, and more fulfilled. Finally, infused with these capacities and academic skills, we help students find purpose, meaning, and opportunities to have a positive impact in their community through practical service projects and volunteering. At the core of the academic curriculum are the Cambridge International Examinations. Students graduate with Cambridge International A Levels, which are accepted and respected by universities throughout the world.
