Northwood School is a coeducational, independent boarding school in Lake Placid, New York offering a semester-based college preparatory curriculum for students in grades 9 through 12, plus a post-graduate year. Northwood’s student body is comprised of 190 students from 24 countries and 21 states, 78% of whom live on campus. The school boasts a student-to-faculty ratio of 5:1, with an average class size of 12 students. In addition to its traditional college prep curriculum, Northwood offers several Signature Academic Programs such as the L.E.A.P. program, Peak Pathways and advanced research in humanities and STEAM. Our students’ learning is not limited to the classroom. Complementing our academic prowess is an extensive co-curricular program that cultivates talents in nature whether this be in sports, creative arts, community service leadership or within one of our focused centers of excellence in alpine and Nordic skiing, ice hockey, soccer, and outdoor adventure.

Located in Lake Placid, NY, 24 countries make up our student body. Our outing club gets to climb, hike and hit the water everyday in the Adirondack Park. We also utilize the newly revamped Olympic venues for our athletic teams.
