The Lower School follows Montessori methods through K, fostering independence and curiosity. What Makes Us Unique
Our signature programs include 7 Diplomas with Distinction in areas including STEM; creative writing; visual arts; language, culture, and community; outdoor and environmental leadership; social advocacy; and music (in addition to the Advanced Music Study Program launched in 2026). NYA added a financial literacy curriculum in 2025 designed to immerse students in financial planning, including budgeting, saving, borrowing, investing, and taxation. Students are given the opportunity to manage a forty thousand-dollar endowment portfolio from freshman through senior year with guidance from NYA faculty and investment professionals. Students collectively make investment decisions throughout four years while managing risk and learning the art of re-balancing.
