Chatham Hall offers the unrivaled, authentic, and transformative all-girls living-and-learning experience.
We don’t aspire to be like every other school; we are unlike any other. As a girls’ boarding school for grades 9–12 in southern Virginia, Chatham Hall is 100% girl-centric: global and grounded, anchored in tradition, and driven by integrity. On our 365-acre campus, students discover a space where they can slow down, connect deeply, and explore boldly. Here, girls step beyond their comfort zones and unlock the boundless potential within themselves.
Unique Characteristics
Through a rigorous academic curriculum, leadership opportunities, and global travel programs, students are inspired to pursue their passions with confidence. Our commitment to well-being is reflected in the state-of-the-art Wagoner-LaDuke Center for Athletics, Health and Wellness, competitive athletic offerings, and a nationally recognized riding program. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and welcoming students of all faiths, Chatham Hall cultivates a values-driven, close-knit community where honor, integrity, and the Purple & Golden Rule guide daily life.
Our Polly Wheeler Guth ’44 Leader in Residence program brings extraordinary women to campus—visionaries in fields ranging from politics and science to sports and the arts. Through keynotes, workshops, and informal gatherings, students learn firsthand from women who lead with courage and vision. Our Claudia Emerson ’75 Writer in Residence Program invites celebrated authors, poets, and songwriters to share their work and craft with our community. Students engage in workshops, readings, and one-on-one conversations, deepening their understanding of the written word and the power of storytelling.
Chatham Hall graduates emerge empowered, ready to lead with purpose, make an impact, and chart lives that are wholly their own. A living-and-learning experience like no other. Learn more at chathamhall.org.
