What Makes Us Unique
There is something special about The Darrow School. Set on two distinctive campuses in New Lebanon and our newly acquired campus in Canaan, New York, Darrow blends the rich history of a 250-year-old Shaker village with an innovative vision for the future. Nestled between the Berkshire Mountains and the Hudson Valley, Darrow provides an inspiring environment where students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning profiles discover a true sense of belonging.
At Darrow, we recognize that every student learns differently. Our relationship-driven community builds on each student's strengths, interests, and aspirations through an individualized educational experience. Our Active Curriculum, rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, combines innovative classroom instruction, project-based learning, and environmental stewardship to prepare students to become thoughtful, engaged global citizens.
The historic Mountainside Campus remains home to our Shaker heritage that continues to shape our educational philosophy, while our Lakeside Campus expands opportunities for learning, creativity, and community.
Students pursue their passions through outstanding visual and performing arts programs, our Hands to Work community service program, and our Learning Skills Program, which provides individualized support in reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning.
Darrow also offers a competitive athletic program featuring nationally recognized basketball, year-round soccer, and, beginning in 2026–27, a partnership with Atlantic Coast Hockey Academy that brings eight premier hockey teams to our campuses.
Our graduates attend outstanding colleges and universities, including Stanford, Princeton, Emerson, Smith, SCAD, Pratt, Johnson & Wales, and many others. At Darrow, students find a place to
