Located on the New York state side of the Berkshires in New Lebanon, NY, The Darrow School is dedicated to serving students with diverse backgrounds and abilities, building on each student’s talents and interests to inspire enduring confidence for success in college and life. The School achieves this through an innovative, individually focused curriculum featuring a unique combination of dynamic instruction, active learning, and environmental stewardship. There is something remarkable about the Darrow School. Perhaps our historic Shaker Heritage or our location nestled between the Berkshire Mountains and the Hudson Valley. Or maybe, it’s our community of individuals where all students belong.
Darrow serves diverse backgrounds and abilities, building on individuals’ talents and interests to deepen thinking with specialized programs, including vast arts opportunities to explore the creative spaces where ideas intersect, and solutions emerge. Our Active Curriculum rooted in the liberal arts and sciences are individually focused and combine innovative classroom instruction with project-based learning and environmental consciousness to educate future generations of global citizens who understand the wider world—and their place in it.
Campus is the site of a 200+ year-old Shaker village, with which we draw much influence. Strong Arts programs (visual, theater, music), “Hands to Work” Community Service program, Learning Skills and added OG to our program this year. Additionally, we have a very strong athletics program including eSports. Recent college matriculations include Stanford, Emmerson, Smith, SCAD, Pratt, Johnson and Wales, and many more.
