Winchendon is a boarding and day school of 250 students located in Winchendon, MA. At Winchendon, we believe that education should be engaging and transformative. Our innovative learning model, small classes, and supportive community are designed to meet each student where they are and help them thrive. Empathetic in how we understand and support each other
Ethical in how we act with integrity and purpose
What Makes Us Unique
Our innovative ColLAB (Collaborative Laboratory) workshops culminate in interdisciplinary, immersive, collaborative projects. ColLabs offer the opportunity for hands-on and field-based study in the real world. We guide students to explore, engage, lead, and elevate their studies through the annual ColLAB experiences.
The Hatch Program for Learning Support or “Hatch” is intentionally structured to meet the evolving needs of neuro-diverse learners. Our goal is to transition each student to become confident, self directed learners. Students in The Hatch Program are teamed with a Learning Strategist who is specifically trained in methods to help them develop better academic skills, habits, and confidence. Hatch students are not taken out of class. Instead, students meet with their Learning Strategist during a regular scheduled class period during the academic day. Learning Strategists monitor each student’s progress towards their goals while helping to establish priorities, practice independent study strategies, and overcome obstacles. Learning Strategy Sessions are either one-on-one or three-on-one. With a full team approach, the Learning Strategist makes sure that each of the student’s teachers and advisor(s) understand their individual plan, the recommended or required strategies, and continues checking in with the student and their family on a regular basis.
