Marianapolis Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational, Catholic, boarding and day school located in Thompson, Connecticut, for grades 9-12 and postgraduates.
The mission of Marianapolis Preparatory School is to educate students in the Catholic tradition of academic excellence, with a commitment to an active faith in God and a dedication to building character with content, compassion, and integrity.
Inclusive of all faiths, our community believes that spirituality is a foundation for compassionate, generous individuals. Marianapolis fosters among its students respect for others, appreciation of diversity, and service to all. Values-based education provides relevant, meaningful lessons that impact our students in and out of the classroom. We contemplate global issues with a moral context; we weigh fairness and values alongside traditional academic lessons. Here, young women and men extend themselves spiritually and intellectually throughout their daily lives. At Marianapolis, students grow into mature, self-directed adults with vision and purpose.
Ours is a community of thinkers, strivers, doers, and achievers; we are excited for you to join in this remarkable tradition. In classrooms, on stage, on sports fields and courts, and in residential houses and halls, positive relationships are foundational to our global and diverse community. Marianapolis adults support each student and their growth through proactive and positive communication and strong partnerships with families around the world.
What Makes Us Unique
Centers of Excellence: Subsequent to completing the Ninth Grade Experience, sophomores have the option to enroll in one of four academic centers: Business & Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Social Justice, or Health Science. The Centers of Excellence were created to facilitate hands-on, practical experience in a concentrated area of study, while retaining global engagement with the traditional curricular path. Students in each of the Centers access a uniquely curated curriculum, engage in a three-week supervised internship, and complete a senior capstone project, among other core requirements. Students who successfully complete the program in addition to the standard graduation requirements receive a specialized diploma at graduation.
Intentionally International Community: Marianapolis is a truly global institution, offering community members a global perspective, whether their home is Thompson, Connecticut, or somewhere on the other side of the world. With students from more than two dozen countries, a campus in Bien Hoa, Vietnam, and the opportunity for students to earn a Joint Diploma or an International Diploma through the Online Learning Program, Golden Knights are also global citizens. Through the rigorous and diverse courses, the residential life program, LEAP activities, and grade-level and community programming, students examine local and global issues with the new perspectives of their peers. Students are able to learn more about the world around them through Global Leadership Outreach, student-led cultural activities, and living and learning in a global community.
